Whether you know this as an excavator grapple saw, log saw grapple or chainsaw grapple, this excavator attachment is built for land clearing, forestry and storm clean-up. The Log Saw has a built-in hydraulic chainsaw, continuous rotation, jaw openings to 1,700 mm and cutting diameters to 640 mm, with a choice of .404 or 3/4 chain to suit the timber you are cutting.

Features

Rotating Log Saw Grab - Integrated hydraulic chainsaw

Integrated hydraulic chainsaw

Bar and chain are built into the grab body with their own oil tank. The saw cuts while the jaws still hold the tree, so felling, delimbing and cutting to length happen on the one hold.

01
Rotating Log Saw Grab - Continuous rotation

Continuous rotation

Rotate the tree to line it up for the cut, then rotate again to put it down. Logs land on the truck, the stack or the processor the way round you want, without slewing the machine for each one.

02
Rotating Log Saw Grab - .404 or 3/4 chain

.404 or 3/4 chain

.404 pitch runs a narrower kerf: quicker through the stem, less sawdust, easier on the hydraulics. 3/4 pitch is the harvester-head chain for big, dense timber and hard, dirty work.

03
Rotating Log Saw Grab - Hydraulic or electric installation

Hydraulic or electric installation

Hydraulic runs grab, rotate and saw on three auxiliary circuits with proportional joystick control. Electric runs one auxiliary through a supplied control unit and solenoid valve block.

Built to fit the machine you run

Nothing here is an off-the-shelf pattern that you have to make work. Every unit is manufactured to your machine's tonnage, hitch and pin centres, so it bolts up to Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Kobelco, Volvo, CASE, Kubota, Yanmar and Takeuchi alike. Send us the make, model and pin sizes and we match the bracket before it ships - if your machine isn't on this list, it still fits.

Mechanical Grab

We bought a mechanical grab for 20T excavator. Good communication during the whole process via email or phone. Good quality product which we haven't had a problem with at all. They also offered to help install when we picked up but was not required. All departments from order to pickup were very helpful.

Hydraulic Grab

The hydraulic grab is better than any Christmas pressi. I use it on my farm dealing with trees and firewood. Also pipe laying. Try lifting 450 dia 12m long HDPE pipe and the grab fits perfect. OK the little Kubota knows it got a big fish on the hook but I can do what I can't do otherwise. Great choice - by me, great product thanks to you.

Hydraulic Grab & Auger

Great company to deal with. Excellent quality hydraulic grab attachment. The company was so nice to deal with I placed another order for a different attachment. Also kept me updated on my order from start to finish. Received my new auger and it is an amazing piece of kit coupled with a 350mm auger and I got the 1m extension also. Had a bit of time to test everything out and the grab is great for moving posts rocks and anything else to save my back. The auger has plenty of torque and because I'm in a bit of rocky ground I got the combination auger and it's busting through it quite well. Still very happy with my order and Aussie Buckets support and after sale check in just to see how everything is going.

Frequently asked questions

What is a rotating log saw grab? A rotating log saw grab, also called an excavator grapple saw, combines a rotating timber grab with a built-in hydraulic chainsaw. The grab holds the tree and the saw cuts it while it is held, so one operator can fell, delimb and cut to length from the cab. Three builds cover 5 to 25 tonne machines.
Do I still need someone cutting on the ground? No. The grab holds the timber and the saw cuts through it while it is held, so the cut happens with nobody underneath. It replaces the usual method of having a machine hold the tree while someone cuts it on the ground, which is why it is used for land clearing, forestry work and storm clean-up.
.404 or 3/4 chain: which should I choose? .404 is a 10.3 mm pitch with a narrower kerf, so less timber becomes sawdust, it is quicker through the stem and easier on the machine's hydraulics. It suits light and medium timber and a high number of cuts a day. 3/4 is 19 mm, the pitch used on harvester heads, built for big, dense timber and hard, dirty work.
What size log saw grab fits my excavator? Three builds cover 5 to 25 tonne machines and the ranges overlap, so machine weight only gets you close. The grab, the rotator and the saw each have a flow and pressure requirement listed per build, and a machine that cannot deliver it runs the attachment slowly. Send your machine details and typical stem size.
Is the installation hydraulic or electric? Both are available on every build. Hydraulic uses three auxiliary circuits and the machine's joysticks, giving proportional control beside something you cannot damage. Electric uses one auxiliary with a supplied control unit and solenoid valve block. Install is confirmed with our technician before order.
What is the maximum cutting diameter? 620 mm on the largest build with .404 chain, or 640 mm with 3/4. The 5 to 9 tonne build cuts to 400 mm and the 10 to 18 tonne build to 550 mm with .404. If your work regularly exceeds those diameters, tell us before you specify and we will give you a straight answer either way.
Log saw grab or log grab: which do I need? A log grab lifts, sorts and loads timber that is already cut, and is the cheaper tool for stacking and loading. A rotating log saw grab adds the chainsaw, so it fells, delimbs and cuts to length as well as handling. If the timber arrives cut, the log grab; if you are cutting it, the saw grab.
How much does a rotating log saw grab cost? Aussie Buckets rotating log saw grabs start at $34,985. Price moves with machine class and chain choice, and 0% finance is available on approved purchases. Every grab is protected by a 5-year warranty and lifetime technical support. Get a tailored quote against your machine.
